Mud Diapirism in the Japan Trench

A paper by Myra Keep et al. was just published today in Marine and Petroleum Geology on a new observation of diapers and mud volcanoes in the graben basins of the Japan Trench. This is the first recognition of mud diapirism in the Japan Trench and to our knowledge is the only occurence of mud diapirism that is not in accrectionary wedges.
